The Forgotten

Yeah, that’s what crazy is
When it’s broken, you say that there’s nothing to fix?
Yeah, that’s what crazy really is

I want to save you
Want to save your heart tonight
But I’ll only break you
Leave you torn apart, alright
We think that we got more time
But we don’t
I wish I was superhuman
But I’m not–
And I wonder why I ever thought I loved you.

And so we’ll play, play, play all the same old games
And we wait, wait, wait for the end to change
And we take, take, take it for granted
that we’ll be the same
But we’re making all the same mistakes

Wake up, we both need to wake up
Maybe if we face up to this
We can make it through this
Farther, farther now
We should be running from each other
Instead–
We think we can’t face one another
And–
We think that we got more time
When we’re falling behind
Gotta change our minds

And so we’ll play, play, play all the same old games
And we wait, wait, wait for the end to change
And we take, take, take it for granted
That we’ll be the same
But we’re making all the same mistakes

When it’s broken, you say that there’s nothing to fix?
Yeah that’s what crazy really is.

“Don’t look back”
But if we don’t look back
We’re never learning
So I keep repeating lessons
That you never loved me
And you pray that everything will be okay
While you’re making all the same mistakes
Because you have forgotten
What you did to me.

And so we’ll play, play, play all the same old games
And we wait, wait, wait for the end to change
And we take, take, take it for granted
That we’ll be the same
But we’re making all the same mistakes

You have forgotten that you never loved me.
But still want me, for what?
A diamond anniversary. A baby and a nursery.
To find more reasons to curse me.
Yeah, that’s what crazy really is

I want to save you
Want to save your heart tonight
But I’ll only break you
Leave you torn apart, alright
We think that we got more time
But we don’t
I wish I was superhuman
But I’m not–
And I wonder why I ever thought I loved you.
