My Little Ford Truck

It’s been 17 years since I saw this path
That took me forever to reach your grasp
And we were gasping for breath
And the breath was a gas
But now my tank
Is all out
And my little ford truck
Ain’t what it used to be

When I was a child
My daddy said, little boy
Just throw her over your shoulder
When times get tough
And she’s had enough
Throw her over your shoulder
And take her to bed
That’s when I said

It’s been 2 years since I saw her face
Watching the room for a trace of our old place
And she was dancing with him
And he wasn’t me
She kept looking
And finally she said
Your little ford truck
Is it still what it used to be

When I was a child
My daddy said, little boy
Just throw her over your shoulder
When times get tough
And she’s had enough
Throw her over your shoulder
And take her to bed
That’s when I said

Baby my first kiss was for you
Sorry, I intended to reach you again
Like some type of fairytale
we had to start it over when it stalled at the end
Just like my little ford truck
