i invented my job.

mrs. lauries told me that the job i had
was not invented yet.
i didn’t listen to a word that lady said.

i could have been anything.
but instead I was this.
a little girl with no morals,
a student with no quarrels,
learning in the name of men
but never knowing what that meant.

when i grew up a little bit more,
i had no idea what i was looking for
always thinking it would come to me
like a flash or a strike or
something…
instead i was floating in my feelings,
like a bottle thrown out to the sea.
that’s why i couldn’t see the truth
when I tried to find it in you.

what’s the world going to look like,
when i have not invented it yet?
i guess you didn’t listen to a word that i’ve said.
