A Song for the Emotionally Repraxxed

underdeveloped
undercovers
in love with each other
eating food off one another
don’t die
so i can do one more.

everclear
so ever near
made love last night
so i could feel the fear
found out i’m not a watcher
but a believer
someone who believes in you–
and what you’re about to do.

if i was a man
i’d be a great one
maybe one like you
so tall and strong
and built to belong
but ALAS
i’m just a lass
like a dog
made to follow you
into the fog
like a tearjerking film
i saw in the fall
or a whisper of smoke
that i felt when you called.

the moment
the emotion leaves
leave
get out
go.
the moment
the ocean runs out of water
leave
get out
go.
the moment
the motion stops moving
leave
get out
go.

don’t let your mind
follow a heart that glitters
but is not gold.
don’t let your pain
hold you back from the
truth you have told–

love isn’t blind it’s weak.
love isn’t real it’s bleak.
love isn’t a lie it’s a freak.
love isn’t wine it’s
an amaretto stone sour but not in a rocks glass–in a highball just to FUCK WITH YOU.
love isn’t solid it’s a slow leak.
love isn’t a river it’s a creek.
from willow branches swaying over what has no way of getting out of there.
landlocked.
stuck.
away from you.

underdeveloped
undercovers
in love with each other
eating food off one another
don’t die
so i can do one more.
