The Mirror Song

Saved our picture from that night
I was alone, i didn’t fight
Put it underneath my bed
I slept with you beneath my head
Packed it up with notes to you
Until that moment we were through

I should have listened when you said
You couldn’t make me happy
But now I know that you were right
And I’ll forgive you for that night
You crushed my soul, I loved you true
And that says nothing about you.

Just me.
It was always me.

Not too long ago You met me
A mannequin, a case of agony
In a dream my daughter took me down
The road of sin you lead me on
Now I’m so grateful for the day
I once let you run away.

I wouldn’t have my moon
I wouldn’t have my son.
I wouldn’t have my lover.
You couldn’t be the one.

It was never you that freed me
You took what I could never see
That every boy I ever met
Was just history yet read
And it was never gonna be seen
They were only just a mirror of me.

Just me
It was always me.
